Since its inception in 2004, the Pocono Mountains Community Fundraiser has grown to be the largest single fundraiser event in Monroe County, giving back more than $2 million to the community. More than 480 community enthusiasts attended this year’s event, titled “Keeping It Close to Home.” Event founder, Diamond Sponsor and host Sanofi Pasteur once again covered all event costs. As a result, 100 percent of ticket sales and sponsorships directly benefitted the non-profit recipients.

In 2013, our Help Us End Hunger food drive led to the donation of over 630,000 bags of food to local food banks. This year, we want to exceed that number to increase our impact in our communities — but we need your help!
Once again, Safeway is joining forces with our shoppers, local food banks, broadcast partners and Kraft Foods in the Help Us End Hunger food drive. Food donations will be collected through December 25 at most of our stores.

Little known to most people, including residents of Houston, Texas, there is a peanut butter cannery here, and it is capable of producing over 1 million jars of peanut butter a year. Thanks to the coordination efforts of Terry Edge, a Cisco Channels Manager, two teams of Cisco employee volunteers produced 12,595 jars -- 21,254 pounds -- of peanut butter this month.
