This Women’s History Month, Common Impact is proud to put the spotlight on women in leadership who are strengthening their communities, breaking barriers, and making strides for gender equality. At the same time, we want to take this opportunity to recognize how COVID-19 has disproportionately affected women, especially women of color.
Pro Bono Week 2020 came at a time of unprecedented difficulty and uncertainty, but in spite of that – or even for that very reason – it produced some of the strongest, most inspiring, and most necessary cross-sector collaborations we’ve ever witnessed. Corporate, public sector, and nonprofit professionals participated in everything from webinars and conferences to skills-based volunteering projects ranging a day or a week or several months, all in the name of better supporting their communities through COVID-19, racial injustice, and intractable societal challenges.
It’s Pro Bono Week! But this one looks unlike any other we’ve experienced before. Instead of large skilled volunteering events or gathering by the hundreds in event spaces for keynotes on social impact, we’re logging on to video calls from our homes or mostly empty offices. Handshakes have been replaced by waves on screens. Digital breakout rooms are the new space for collaboration.
Free Virtual Conference Will Help Service and Giving Leaders Create and Manage Effective Employee Engagement Programs
WELLESLEY, Mass., October 14, 2020 /3BL Media/ - Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Common Impact today announced the third annual Making Good Happen At Work conference, a free virtual event that will help business leaders and corporate social responsibility managers build employee engagement and corporate philanthropy programs in response to changing community needs.
Host and Common Impact CEO Danielle Holly is joined by Janelle Woods-McNish, Director of Service and Giving at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and one of the newest members of Common Impact’s Board of Directors. Janelle leads Harvard Pilgrim’s employee giving and service initiatives across New England, the latter of which has an impressive volunteer participation rate of 96%.
The Common Impact team had the pleasure of spending #GivingTuesday in Boston with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation for the first-ever Making Good Happen at Work conference in Boston. The conference brought together leaders from the corporate, nonprofit and public sectors for an interactive conversation on creating and tending an effective employee service and giving program.
