As the COVID-19 crisis turned the spotlight on global health, the pace of climate action has expedited around the world, particularly as world leaders are expected to strengthen their Paris Agreement climate commitments at the 26^th United Nations Climate Change Conference later in 2021. In support of global developments, CLP has upheld the Group’s commitment to decarbonise its operations as it transitions to a Utility of the Future.

“Making a positive difference for the environment is something that has always been close to my heart,” says Hendrik Rosenthal, who was appointed CLP Director - Group Sustainability in 2018. 

“Growing up, I was fascinated by the then-new concept of reusing and recycling. Talks within my community about the safety of nuclear power also exposed me to the energy industry and its social and environmental responsibilities.” 

The CLP Group has launched its new Sustainability Report and Annual Report, documenting  the resilient performance of the business amid the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Group’s unwavering focus to continue its energy transition to build a more sustainable future.

As the world moves towards carbon neutrality, we will witness the changing colours of energy – from brown, carbon-intensive sources, to green, carbon-neutral sources. 

This is critical because the demand for power will continue to grow and, as the world becomes more digitalised, concerns over direct personal exposure to emissions from the use of energy will also continue to grow.
