McCain’s Ballarat plant will reduce CO2 emissions by 27,100 tonnes per year.

Sept. 21, 2020 /3BL Media/ McCain Foods Australia has announced it has commenced construction on a renewable energy system that will reduce emissions from its Ballarat food processing facility by more than 27,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The project, which will house Australia’s largest “behind-the-meter” renewable energy system, will subsidise McCain’s energy consumption in Ballarat by 39 per cent.
The company will work with AES and Genneia, two of the leading providers of renewable energy in the country.
The total electric energy acquired will exceed 20,000 MWh/year, thus avoiding the emission of more than 5,500 tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
This initiative is part of McCain’s broader sustainability strategy which aims to achieve 100% renewable energy in all its plants around the world by 2030.
