Safety is our #1 value. At JetBlue, we remain focused on the safety and well being of our crewmembers and customers. Air travel is an essential global service and we are committed to meeting travel needs, some of which are critical. During this time of uncertainty, we remain committed to our mission of Inspiring Humanity and our social impact pillars – community and youth/education. This includes our main resources – flights and assets from our network of partners.
JetBlue remains committed to helping kids’ imaginations take flight. As most school districts across the U.S. are closed indefinitely, parents and teachers are looking for options to keep students engaged in learning. Education partners from both the JetBlue Foundation and our award winning Soar with Reading initiative have provided free tools and tips for schools, teachers, and students in the areas of STEM and Literacy.
During these uncertain times, we remain focused on our Caring value. In line with our values, our crewmembers and community continue to bring our mission of Inspiring Humanity to life. Utilizing our main resources – flights and assets from our network of partners, over the past week we’ve collaborated with several of our partners to show our support for the medical community. JetBlue is currently working with many of our business partners, community non-profits as well as NGOs to help get much-needed supplies to the places where they are needed most.
Airlines across the industry are making strides to hire more women, but at the executive level women make up only 3% of all airline CEOs, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
“This industry is obviously very challenged because you don’t have a lot of senior women at higher levels within the industry,” Joanna Geraghty, the president and COO of JetBlue Airways says.
JetBlue Becomes First Sustainability-Linked RCF for the Sector Linking the Airline’s Strategic Tangible ESG Results with Financial Incentive
NEW YORK, February 27, 2020 /3BL Media/ - BNP Paribas, a premier global bank, today announced that it has closed a sustainability-linked loan (“SLL”) with JetBlue Airways (“JetBlue” or the “Company”), via an amendment to its existing Senior Secured Revolving Credit Facility (“RCF” or the “Facility”).
Inspiring the future of aviation is a responsibility that the JetBlue Foundation takes very seriously. No other airline has gone on record to solely focus on supporting aviation education. Our goal is to increase access to this industry we love so much.
Instead of requiring employees to volunteer for a favored company cause, JetBlue encourages crewmembers to follow their personal passions. "Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do, however you want to help, that’s what we encourage you to do and then we reward you for it," said Icema Gibbs, JetBlue's Director of CSR in a recent Cause Talk Radio podcast interview.
JetBlue rang in the new year by pledging to offset carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from jet fuel for all of its domestic flights beginning in July, the first such announcement from a major U.S. airline. The company also said it will start using sustainable aviation fuel in mid-2020 on its flights from San Francisco.
