NEW YORK, September 19, 2018 /3BL Media/ – JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) today received its latest A321 aircraft from Airbus’ U.S. A320 Family production facility in Mobile, Ala. The acceptance flight followed by JetBlue’s scheduled ferry flight, taking place on September 20, marks JetBlue’s first-ever flights fueled with renewable jet fuel blend. The fuel for these flights, provided by Airbus and certified by Air BP, consists of 15.5 percent renewable jet fuel blended with traditional jet fuel.
Last month, JetBlue worked with VH1’s Save the Music to donate instruments to Henry H. Filer Middle Schoo in Hialeah, Fla. to “bring the beat back.” The donation will help revival their music program, which had been shut down for more than a decade. JetBlue recognizes how much music adds into a child’s education. The arts help inspire creative thinking and opportunities. The event ended on a high note with a surprise guest performance from Emily Estefan.
Joanna Geraghty said being the highest-ranking woman in the airline industry is humbling, but also frustrating.
"It shouldn't be that way in 2018," said Geraghty, JetBlue's president and chief operating officer. "There should be many more in this space ranked even higher than me."
JetBlue teamed up with the Utah STEM Action Center and Atlantic Aviation Friday to teach girls about careers in flight, especially those relying on science, technology, engineering and math.
