Microsoft has launched the Elevate America community initiative, a new grant program that will support nonprofit organizations offering employment services, including technology skills training and job placement, in local communities across the United States. To support this initiative, we are committing $4 million in cash, $6 million in software and technology skills training curriculum over the next two years.

I chair the board of an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that approaches board building in an uncommon way. We put out an open call for applications to the members of our network (young professionals working in the nonprofit sector) once a year and select board members to fill open positions from the resulting pool of applicants.
BoardSource, the national leader in nonprofit governance, is helping to build capacity in consultants and practitioners with Advanced Board Consulting, a training being held April 15-16 in the Washington, D.C. area. Led by governance expert Michael Daigneault, the program provides the knowledge needed by the elite nonprofit board trainer.
