#DardenDigest: Pride in Our Culture


The inclusiveness of Darden’s culture is engrained throughout the organization, so much so that we continuously try to see how our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) can do more for our employees and the diverse networks we all represent. Like the five other ERGs at Darden, members of Darden’s Pride Alliance ERG are not only active within the organization but also in the community to champion an environment that recognizes and leverages the contributions of the LGBT community.

#DardenDigest: Darden Earns Perfect Score on Corporate Equality Index


Darden Restaurants is proud to announce that, for the second consecutive year, we scored 100 out of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign 2014 Corporate Equality Index for our business practices and policies toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees. When I joined Clorox in 1988, coming out as a gay man was the furthest thing from my mind. The company didn’t have domestic partner benefits, a GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) employee resource group or openly GLBT employees in leadership positions. I wanted to progress in my career, but I saw no one like me in the management or leadership ranks. I concluded that the safest option for my career was to stay in the closet.
