General Motors is introducing a flame treatment technology that lets paint stick to plastic vehicle parts like instrument and door panels without using primers that contain solvents and can foul the air.

 

The use of solvents in paint primers is an industry-wide challenge. We’re committed to reducing emissions throughout our operations and supply chain, so we manage solvents through recycling, energy conversion and superheating the gases to break them down. However, these efforts are costly.

Bag Your Shoes event is happening now at the Staples Center, Aug. 7th, 9th, and 12th. If in the LA area be sure to drop by and donate your shoes. All pairs will go to Southern California Goodwill to benefit those in need. Win prizes and a chance to meet the Sparks at a upcoming game!

Waste Management of Los Angeles is teaming up with the Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA) for the 'Bag your Shoes' campaign happening now! They will be collecting new and gently used sneakers and shoes outside Staples Center before and during three Sparks games in August (7th 4:30-6, 9th 6:30- 8:00, 12th 6:30-8:00). The collected shoes will be donated to Goodwill Southern California! Fans will receive a gift from WM (biodegradable Sparks/WM shoelaces made from corn fiber) for every pair of shoes donated. They will also be entered for a chance to be Honorary Sparks Coach for a game.

The goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of shoes! Come down and "recycle" your shoes, see you at the game!

Verizon appoints Relan LLP as an exclusive partner to initiate an innovative nation-wide billboard up-cycling program
Summary: 

600,000 tons of billboards are produced every year. Tom Schaeppi, owner of Relan bags wanted to help reduce waste associate with billboard advertising by turning the left over PVC ad's into bags. The bags are durable, fashionable and come with a picture of what the full billboard looked like. Eventually billboard manufactures will need to look into renewable sources for creating billboards in the first place, for now you can help by purchasing a Relan bag and keeping this type plastic out of landfills.
