Last year, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and Sands Expo Las Vegas partnered with local non-profit conservation organization Green Our Planet to build six garden beds, equipped with drip irrigation lines, composter bins, and a garden shed, for a local elementary school. This May, the partnership expanded, and more than 600 Team Members came together to build an additional 12 gardens for various schools throughout Las Vegas.
In 2017, our global properties were called on many times to step up in the face of tragedy. From Typhoon Hato in Macao to the Las Vegas shooting massacre and other U.S. natural disasters, Las Vegas Sands and its Team Members rose to the challenges.
Marina Bay Sands hosts a week of giving for local community
Marina Bay Sands (MBS) held its fifth annual Sands for Singapore Charity Festival in 2017 with overall results again surpassing previous years’ efforts. A primary initiative for Sands Cares in Singapore, the week-long festival raised S$3.9 million (USD $2.8 million) for local community charities and welcomed more than 20,000 visitors to its various events. Since 2013, Sands for Singapore has raised more than S$20 million (USD $14.7 million).
To mark the milestone of Sands Cotai Central’s opening in 2012, Sands China Ltd. created an anniversary celebration that not only delighted guests and patrons, it extended special benefits and engaged a number of local community organizations. A highlight of the anniversary celebration was a carnival at the property’s Paradise Gardens, in which 50 Sands China Care Ambassadors hosted 50 members of the Macao Special Olympics (MSO) to participate in activities such as balloon twisting, caricature sketching, magic shows, face painting, and more.
The Venetian and The Palazzo Team Member Biar Atem recently attended Amnesty International USA’s Annual General Meeting in Washington, DC as a “Build Bridges” panel member to empower Amnesty members to advocate for refugees and human rights.
Through the implementation of the Fresh Start Mobile Showers, WestCare partnered with Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands’ corporate giving program, as a local stop for providing the community’s homeless population with private showering facilities. As the mobile showers began to gain traction, WestCare has been an important partner in assisting those experiencing homelessness in the Las Vegas area.
Sands Cares, the corporate giving program of Las Vegas Sands, is the company’s manifested commitment to being a good corporate citizen, committed to its people, communities in which it operates and the planet. In each region, Sands Cares has Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) leads that manage the program and execute initiatives unique to each region.

Sands for Singapore, an initiative through Sands Cares, is a multi-day festival that serves to increase public awareness of partner charities and raise funds for them through several series of events.
In March, Sands Bethlehem hosted the Bacardi Group and their team of 60 employees over two days with meetings and dinners. As part of their visit, they wanted to participate in a community service project as a team building event.
