During the annual literary celebration of the National Education Association’s Read Across America on March 2, many children across the nation celebrate reading on the same day as the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Las Vegas Team Members Participate in Nevada’s Big Give


On March 22, Sands Cares, the company’s global corporate giving program, partnered with the United Way of Southern Nevada to sponsor Nevada’s Big Give. Since 2011, thousands of Nevadans have participated in the 24-hour online crowdfunding event that was created to rally together community support for Nevada’s charitable causes.

Sands Cares Makes a $50,000 Donation to ‘Mondays Dark’


Sands Cares, the global corporate giving program of Las Vegas Sands Corp., The Venetian and The Palazzo, donated $50,000, $25,000 per year over the next two years, to help fund the operating costs of local philanthropic organization, Mondays Dark.  Twice a month, Mondays Dark gathers an eclectic cast of guests, including stars from Hollywood and the Las Vegas Strip, musical acts, comedians, athletes, and the occasional celebrity chef, for 90 minutes of conversation and entertainment.

Sands Cares | Veterans Village Container Housing Groundbreaking Ceremony


On February 26, Veterans Village broke ground at the site of their newest housing development for homeless veterans. Through Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands’ corporate giving program, Veterans Village was given a “seed grant” to support the early stages and infrastructure of the shipping container neighborhood.

More than 30 Sands China Care Ambassadors volunteered at Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop to distribute 350 food hampers to disadvantaged families days before Chinese New Year.

Sands Cares Adopts Local Las Vegas Elementary School


On January 23, 2018, Sands Cares, the company’s corporate giving program, adopted its first school, Helen Herr Elementary School, in partnership with non-profits Spread The Word Nevada (STWN) and Green Our Planet in Las Vegas. The $50,000 donation will fund free books and literacy programs for more than 800 students through 2020.

Marina Bay Sands Opens Its Doors to Students for an Insider Look at an Integrated Resort


Marina Bay Sands Team Members brought 40 children from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore and Students Care Service on a fun-filled hospitality career workshop in support of the annual AmCham Corporate Community Day in November.  Organized by The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) and the U.S. Embassy, it is a special day that encourages all American organizations in Singapore and its employees to build stronger ties with Singapore through local community work.

Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers: Biannual Review


In July 2017, Las Vegas Sands and Clean the World responded to one of the challenges within Las Vegas’ homeless community with the Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers Powered by Clean the World, a mobile hygiene unit that visits various locations serving the homeless population to provide showers, hygiene supplies, and other resources.

Team Members at Sands Bethlehem Adopt a Family for the Holidays


Local families received some extra joy in December thanks to a holiday initiative at Sands Bethlehem. Through a continued partnership with Donegan Elementary, students who were identified as part of a ‘family in need’ were ‘adopted’ by a Sands Bethlehem department.  Departments shopped, wrapped and gifted presents to the identified families.

“This was our second year giving to families in need,” Susan Stachowski, Community Relations Coordinator, said.  “Our Team Members were eager to participate.  There was music, refreshments and a lot of presents.  The children had a blast.”
