In keeping with MTV’s long history of youth voter engagement and as a continuation of our efforts to register first-time voters for the 2020 election through our Vote For Your Life campaign, MTV is proud to make funding available to organizations working to get out the youth vote for the upcoming runoff election in Georgia.  

The results of this year’s presidential election will affect human and civil rights, the racial justice movement, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector not just for the next four years, but potentially for decades to come. Voting is a vital way each of us can take a stand to create equitable and healthy communities, especially right now. At the same time, COVID-19 has disrupted typical pre-election activities, restricting “get out the vote” initiatives, impeding a key demographic of poll workers – seniors – from volunteering, and making voting in person risky.

American democracy is facing an immense test in 2020. This is also a test for American business.

With the U.S. elections less than a month away, the potential impact of COVID-19 on voter turn-out is a real cause for concern. As coronavirus fatalities pass the 210,000 mark, attempts to slow the spread of the pandemic rely on the continued vigilance of millions of people.

How can we minimize the risk of virus transmission, while exercising our democratic right – and duty – to vote on November 3rd?
