Help #Amway get a coveted spot at #SXSW 2014 by voting for their session in this year's panel picker! Our work in West Africa is truly amazing and shows how African women, given the opportunity, could make real change in their lives through an opportunity custom-built for them.

Empowering African Women through Power of Design
In a corner of West Africa, where people make a few dollars per day, applying human centered design is crucial in determining how to build successful business models to benefit the region’s entrepreneurs. The human centered design process explores people’s needs in Ghana and the context in which they live, and then develops a business model around those needs versus force-fitting an existing country model. This session discusses how the process enables growth in Ghana and other emerging markets, and for the businesses applying the process. It includes an examination of the process parts – people, business, tech – and the supporting role tech plays. It features firsthand stories on how a new business model emerged for Ghanaian women entrepreneurs along with the creation of training programs. The human centered design process applied in Ghana was responsible for providing sustainable jobs to local women so they could send their kids to school and create a new future for their families. - See more at: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/19401#sthash.dBwrA6sz.dpuf
