Food Donations Offer Socially Responsible Waste Reduction Opportunity

ARAMARK food service facilities are among the 15,000 donors providing food to local non-profits through Food Donation Connection (FDC). For 20 years FDC has been connecting donors with more than 8,000 community organization, such as shelters, churches and children’s organizations, that help feed those in need in the US, Canada, and the UK.  In addition to identifying a local agency approved by the area health department, FDC supports and trains location management; offers packaging, labeling and storage supplies; and provides tracking reports on donations.

“Increasingly, clients and customers are asking for food donation solutions,” said Rita Alison, National Senior Manager, Sustainability for ARAMARK Higher Education.“By creating a partnership with the Food Donation Connection, and creating guidelines for our operators to help them make food donations, we’ve developed a safe solution that benefits the communities we serve both socially and environmentally.”
