Southwest Airlines Achieves Energy, Water and Waste Reductions

(3BL/JustMeans) - Southwest Airlines has decreased its absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 2012 to 2013. It attributes the decrease to continued improvements in fuel efficiency. Southwest also achieved a 20 percent improvement in fuel efficiency from 2012 to 2013 or almost 60 million gallons of jet fuel, equivalent to about 9,900 roundtrip flights between Chicago Midway and Las Vegas.
