Twenty-three percent of younger workers, ages 18 to 34, say it plays the biggest role in building job satisfaction.  - Winning Workplaces   Among the many ways companies are  looking to increase their productivity and drive overall performance improvements, our sustainability consulting finds a few common characteristics among business sustainability leaders paving the way through innovation, leadership and creating meaningful work.   How so?   Innovation: While an open innovation approach to business sustainability offers stakeholders the opportunity to become engaged in the future of a business, it also recognizes that all key stakeholders have a vested interest in the success of the company.  It creates openness to new ideas that promote business success.   Leadership:  Successful leadership practices recognize that communication and active learning are key success factors in the pursuit of business sustainability and promoting company culture.   In addition to executive management playing a critical role in the success of a company, business sustainability requires leadership across the entire organization.  While management may ultimately carry the responsibility of sustainable business results, employees have a part to play in the definition and implementation of the company’s business sustainability programs and company culture.  Click here to read more about business sustainability as a tool to jump start business improvements.
