40 organizations receive grants to reduce disparate outcomes, support training, policy and criminal justice reform

Imagine you’re a volunteer first responder, tasked with answering a late-night call for help. Far from the nearest hospital, your GPS goes in and out as you careen through the backcountry roads. You approach the scene and your signal drops. You’re now alone in the dark.
For many first responders in rural communities, this scenario is just part of the job. Too many communities still lack access to mobile broadband, and in the case of an emergency, it can be a matter of life or death.

Piedmont Natural Gas in Nashville is used to doing good work. But there’s one project that has employees really enthusiastic.
Tami Sturges had the idea. Instead of demolishing a house in the path of a natural gas pipeline project, she asked, could we do something productive with the house?
The company bought the three-bedroom house in Nashville’s West End intending to demolish it. That’s when Stephen Francescon, Piedmont’s community relations manager, turned to Monroe Harding, a nonprofit that provides foster care and supportive housing for young people.
Customers donated $9.3 million at checkstands in September to enable 37.5 million healthy breakfasts; company and customer donations have now topped $110 million in 2020
Thanks to the generosity of customers, the Albertsons Companies Nourishing Neighbors community relief fund raised a record $9.3 million in its September campaign to provide healthy breakfasts for children in need across its market areas. The funds – raised at the register and directed to local organizations in each store’s community – will enable 37.5 million breakfasts throughout the country.
Nourishing Neighbors is a charitable program of the Albertsons Companies Foundation, which is working to eradicate hunger in America.

Lab tests revealed that samples of Target’s Good & Gather All Natural California Raisins contained unnatural pesticides. The nonprofit discovered eleven different fungicides and insecticides present in the raisins.
7.1 million trees will be planted in forests worldwide by the year’s end
LINCOLN, Neb., October 26, 2020 /3BL Media/ - On the anniversary of the launch of #TeamTrees, the Arbor Day Foundation announced that the campaign’s goal of planting 22 million trees by the end of 2022 is well underway. Amidst the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, the Foundation will have planted 7.1 million trees spanning more than twenty countries by the close of 2020. Of the 34 projects scheduled for 2020, 24 are fully complete. The remaining 10 are in progress and on track to be finished by the year’s end.

When the N.C. governor enacted shelter-in-place restrictions in March, TreesCharlotte had three major events stranded on the calendar: a pair of 200- plus tree plantings at Mallard Creek High and Parkside Elementary and the final Citywide TreeStore with nearly 1,000 trees to give away.
