While the Great Recession has been declared officially over, the economic wreckage is still with us and will take years to repair. Unemployment is stuck near 10% it will be 2013 or later until unemployment falls to pre-recession levels. The problem is particularly bad for young people, with unemployment reaching over 50% for those between ages 16 and 24 during the summer. Tired of waiting for someone else to give them a job, many young people are turning to green consulting with companies like Green Revolution to create their own jobs. Driven today largely by cost savings opportunities or risk mitigation, the business world is gradually moving forward on the sustainability continuum.  The feel good efforts of the past have been replaced with real bottom line business sustainability impacts.  Looking into the future, the next step-change will come when stand-alone project implementations become cohesive business sustainability programs across companies, industries, and business as a whole

Ok, I need to admit it. I was a late bloomer with Twitter. When I joined Waggener Edstrom’s Social Innovation Practice ten months ago I quickly realized this agency lives and breathes social media and just updating my Facebook status was not going to cut it. A year ago, to stay in touch with the latest CSR and social impact news, I received countless daily newsletters that I would try to skim during my morning cup of coffee.
