WASHINGTON, October 2, 2020 /3BL Media/ - The Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), PYXERA Global, and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation today announced they will work together to help companies become more circular, which will contribute to economic recovery following the pandemic and beyond. A circular economy is based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems.

Together, this partnership delivers a joint offering to help companies evaluate their supply chain (ASCM) with the goal of surfacing opportunities to become more circular (EMF) and execute programming to take advantage of these opportunities (PYXERA Global). The common thread running through these three organizations is their commitment to solving global challenges with solutions that will benefit the economy, people, and the environment. Their diverse offerings include the following:

  • ASCM collaborated with its corporate members to develop and launch the standard for supply chain sustainability and an associated enterprise level certification. Compatible with the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, this certification signifies that an organization has met 65 supply chain criteria across economic, environmental, and ethical dimensions.
  • PYXERA Global designs and executes programming on social issues material to a company’s core business and unique skill sets. Working at the intersection of the public, private, and social sector, PYXERA Global convenes critical stakeholders across business, government, and civil society to create impactful supply chain development and community based zero waste programs while ensuring alignment to a company’s broader business objectives.
  • The Ellen MacArthur Foundation was launched in 2010 to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Since its creation the charity has emerged as a global thought leader, establishing the circular economy on the agenda of decision makers across business, government, and academia. The Foundation recently developed Circulytics: a tool that supports a company’s transition towards the circular economy, regardless of industry, complexity, and size. Going beyond assessing products and material flows, this company-level measuring tool reveals the extent to which a company has achieved circularity across its entire operations. So far more than 500 global companies have started using Circulytics.

“Companies are realizing now more than ever that the resiliency of their supply chain determines their ability to not only navigate through a disruption, but to bounce back in recovery. This collaboration provides an exciting opportunity to leverage ASCM’s global standards alongside the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Circulytics tool with PYXERA Global’s expertise in building relationships and pinpointing purposeful global engagement opportunities,” said ASCM, CEO, Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE.

“Building ethical, inclusive, and circular supply chains have never been so critical to a company’s bottom line and to safeguard the future of our planet. We have an opportunity to create a new standard for supply chain excellence that is truly sustainable and the collaboration between ASCM, The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and PYXERA Global provides the foundation to break new ground,” said Deirdre White, CEO, PYXERA Global.

“We cannot achieve a circular economy until we can properly measure it. Circulytics is the Foundation’s circular economy metric tool, that is free to use, and can be used by any company regardless of size or complexity. It enables companies to measure circularity across their entire operations identifying good practice, and highlighting areas to adopt or further embed circular practices. By working with ASCM and PYXERA Global we can help shape global supply chains to become more circular,” said James George, Network Development Lead, Ellen Macarthur Foundation.
